Geetthan Vairamuthu, Q&S Specialist, Specimen Management

“The Masters of Health Administration (Community Care) program focuses on the rapidly expanding field of community healthcare. Essentially, the MHA(CC) program addresses the need for entrepreneurial managers who can navigate the intricacies of community healthcare and create a positive influence in this space. My objective is to advance within LMP and through this program I will be gaining a deeper understanding of community care, which will enable me to provide even better care to our patients and clients.”

Hansika Deepak, Technician III

” I am currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration from University of Toronto and hope to focus my electives in Strategy and Leadership. Having had some inspiring team leads through my career here at UHN and learning about the value of good leadership through a global crisis has motivated me to further my education. I hope to learn more team building skills and better understand the inner working of a complex organization such as UHN and how best to put my skills to good use. I couldn’t have embarked on this journey without the unwavering support and encouragement from my mentors here at UHN’s LMP. “

Nicole Smith, Q&S Specialist, Pathology

Nicole is currently pursuing a MSc. in Health Science Education at McMaster University. The program includes coursework on curriculum design, assessment, educational technologies, simulation-based education, and leadership and management within a health professions context. Throughout the program, she developed expertise in effective educational strategies and assessment methods. She also honed her leadership and management skills by utilizing tools to discover her strengths in transformational leadership, planning and change management. She explored innovative teaching methods using technologies such as e-Learning modules, and finished her course work by gaining expertise in various simulation-based education methods and designs to enhance skill acquisition. Her final capstone is an education innovation proposal on the implications of implementing a fully digital based WSI curriculum to the current Diagnostic Cytopathology Curriculum and its impact on graduates in clinical practice. ‘My hope is that my studies will equip me with the skills necessary to ensure the next generation of health care professionals are well prepared to meet the evolving needs of patient care’.
