Dr. Anita Bane joined UHN’s Breast Pathology team on February 1.
She graduated from University College Galway, Ireland in 1995 and completed her internal medicine and pathology residency program equivalent training at the Mater Hospital and St. James’ Hospital Dublin, Ireland respectively.
She subsequently completed a Breast Pathology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto with Dr. Frances O’Malley and a PhD with Dr. Irene Andrulis.
Over the last 14 years she has worked as a subspecialised breast pathologist at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre and as Chief of Pathology at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and currently serves as the lead breast pathologist for the Breast Cancer Advisory Committee, Cancer Care Ontario-Ontario Health.
Dr. Banes research interests include biomarker evaluation and implementation, familial breast cancer and lobular neoplasia.
