On Wednesday, June 26, JP Nadeau, MLT, Genetics, and Peter Sabatina, Director, Genetics, dropped into the Michener Institute of Education at UHN for a special lunch and learn for students of the Genetics Technology Program.
The timing is perfect: The students are currently in their simulated clinical rotation at Michener and will be attending their hospital clinical rotations across Canada this fall. UHN will be receiving one of these students, completing the molecular portion of their rotation in our molecular lab.
JP and Peter presented on the droplet digital PCR technology and its usefulness in testing liquid biopsies for NSCLC resistance mutations.
The combination of director and technologist presenting together helped the students understand the dialogue that occurs between technologists and directors in the context of patient results and reporting–a valuable tool for any student to have in their toolbox!
Kudos to Peter and JP for prioritizing LMP’s educational impact and helping elevate our next generation of MLTs!
