National Med Lab Week Celebrated Across LMP!

From April 21 to April 27, celebrations were taking place across the country to acknowledge the significant role medical laboratory professionals have in our health care system.

LMP was proud to partake by hosting a number of events throughout the week. Here’s a recap by numbers:

Four Wet Lab Grossing Sessions

*Melissa Stegmaier led Tuesday’s Wet Lab Session on Gastrointestinal Grossing.*

A new addition to NMLW this year, the Surgical Pathology Team took attendees through the presentation of actual tissues specimens and discussed anatomy, clinical history, specimen preparation, gross technique and specimen sampling. A number of staff from the Joint Department of Medical Imaging also joined in celebration of NMLW to better understand the relationship between imaging and surgical pathology.

Three Continuing Education Sessions

*Cherry Have presented on Wednesday alongside Cytogenetics Lab colleague Shab Salehi-Rad.*

Our classic lecture-style continuing education sessions didn’t fail to deliver this year, as we heard expert voices from across LMP share knowledge from their practice areas. Watch them again here.

One Celebration of UHN’s Laboratory Professionals

*LMP staff congregated in the DeGasperis Conservatory on Friday to wrap up NMLW 2019.*

This year’s final celebration was filled with great food (no cake left behind!), coffee/tea, snacks and of course the dedicated people that make LMP what it is.
